24/7 Week of Prayer…. Focusing on Jesus’ call for us to be “fishers of men”
Between 28th May and 3rd June a large number of the fellowship took the opportunity to visit the prayer room that had been arranged and decorated by Anne Bullen and her team. The room included a number of prayer ‘stations’ that allowed folk to take time to spend time with God, and prompt thought and prayer through interactive tools, readings and music. Some of those who used the room, have written down their thoughts for us….
“I thought the seven day Prayer Room was exactly what I needed, I am very much aware of one of my many weaknesses and that is Prayer. I come from a large family with six siblings and none of them Christians, which is a deep worry for me. My normal routine for any Christian time is first thing in the morning before I leave for work, consisting of 10 minutes with my Daily Bread and at the end of the day when I’m in bed saying the briefest of Prayers before I fall asleep – sometimes during the Prayer. Therefore, to be able to commit myself to a number of one-hour Prayer sessions when I could focus on my family, brother and sisters and the world around me was a great blessing. The room was wonderfully laid out and a real comfort to me, I cannot thank the women enough for the work taken to achieve that. At the end of the week, I felt blessed for the great privilege to be in union with my Father and knowing that he knows my concerns and my family and loves us all.” Peter Barlow
“Life seems to have been a non-stop whirlwind of late. This room provided much needed space, quiet & time to meet with God. The stunningly detailed & creative areas helped guide my prayers beautifully, but the best thing of all was just being in God’s presence. As I read the words: ‘Consuming fire, fan into flame – a passion for your name,’ the same song started on the CD continuing: ‘Spirit of God fall in this place, Lord have your way with us’. That moment stuck with me the most. I sometimes feel I have lost that passion a little and so desire to get it back. I also sensed the challenge for us as a Church to really be seeking God’s way as we go forward – even if that takes us outside of our comfort zone.” Ali Broomfield
“Well, I managed to get to the prayer room for just an hour but I was blown away by the set-up, the content, the detail, the thought and creativity that had gone into that room. High praise from me to Anne and her team put together such a blissful sanctuary of prayer and worship to our Lord. There was such wonderment there that I only managed to see about a third of what was there in the hour. I had intended to go back but didn’t get the chance. Whilst I was there I felt a strong urge to sing so that is exactly what I did and I think that was my act of worship. I also played one of the cd’ s and danced a little. It was also lovely to have so many prompts for what to pray and how to pray.” Sue Marsh
“Copying out verses from the bible using the black cards really helped me to focus on God’s words to me. I also loved taking time to listen to some worship music on CD.” Summer Leighton
