2 Corinthians – Defending the faith
The second of Paul’s letters to the Corinthian church that we find within the Bible was written at a time when Paul was coming under increasing attack from the Corinthian church. They were looking to other teachers, other doctrines and other ways of living. Paul writes to defend himself from their criticism, but also (and more importantly) to defend the faith that he taught them. As he explains the transforming power of the grace of God, we will find ourselves growing in confidence in our own faith today and the treasure that God has placed in each one who welcomes Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
