EXPLORING FAITH, PURPOSE, AND MEANING
WHAT IS ALPHA?
The Alpha course is open to everyone interested in discovering what Christianity is about. It’s a place where people can come and relax, eat, share thoughts and explore faith, purpose, and the meaning of life.
HOW ALPHA WORKS
There is an evening meal, followed by a DVD presentation and discussion groups of around eight people when guests can ask questions and contribute their opinions. This is led by one or two hosts whose role is to facilitate and encourage discussion. Courses vary in size and, at Hertford Baptist Church, our evening courses typically last two hours and a half hours (7pm – 9.30pm including the meal). You won’t be expected to sing, pray or do anything you do not feel comfortable with. There is a day away element in the middle of the course. The course is free.
WHO IS ALPHA FOR?
The Alpha course is designed primarily for people who aren’t already churchgoers and is open to anyone who would like to attend. It is also good for those who want to ‘top up’ on the basics.
WHY ATTEND THE ALPHA COURSE?
Guests come on the Alpha course for many different reasons; some want to investigate whether God exists and some have questions they’d like to discuss. Many guests have never been to church and others may have attended church but feel they have never had a personal understanding of the Christian faith.
WHEN AND WHERE
The next Alpha Course at HBC begins on Wednesday 10th January @ 7pm for our Alpha Supper. There are then weekly sessions every Wednesday. Our courses take place in our church hall, fully accessible from the Chambers Street entrance. If you would like to attend, drop us an email at email@example.com.
