Leadership Team for the year 2010/2011
At the beginning of the last church year the HBC leadership team consisted of 10 deacons, plus Dawn Weston in her staff role as Y&C Leader, plus the pastors who grew in number from one to three during the year.
Three deacons are stepping down this year:
· Pete Croft having completed nearly 8 years stepped down in September.
· Richard Long steps down after 4 years and David Scott after nearly two years.
We are very grateful for all they have done for the church and our thanks go also to Emma, Pola and June for supporting their husbands in this important role.
The leadership team believe that 10 deacons, together with the 3 pastors, are sufficient for effective leadership of the church and to cover the wide range of work to be done. This was made as a recommendation at the Church Meeting in March and was approved which means that there will be 3 vacancies for the diaconate for 2010/2011.
While keeping our normal process for the nomination and election of deacons in place, this year for the first time we have encouraged during March the suggestion of names of those who are seen to have the gifts and character for being a deacon. Steve Fenton will be discussing the role of deacon with those whose names have been suggested.
The nomination form will be displayed in the foyer on Sunday 18 April for three Sundays with nominations closing on Sunday 2 May. To make a nomination the proposer and seconder should obtain the consent of the nominee and then sign and print their names on the nomination form.
The election of deacons will take place at the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 18 May.
Please continue to be in prayer for God’s leading of those he has in mind to become deacons this year.
Postal votes may be requested from the 18 April to 2nd May by contacting Ken Hall. The voting slips will be sent out during the week after 2nMay for completion and return before the start of the Annual General Meeting.

Deacons at Hertford Baptist Church serve with the Pastors as the Church’s Leadership Team. This year, 2010, we have enhanced the procedures for electing Deacons.
The election will take place at the Annual General Meeting to be held on Tuesday 18 May.
Nomination can be made between between Sunday 18 April and Sunday 2 May.
