Hertford Baptist Church has built strong links with the community on the Sele Farm Estate over the last number of years and a variety of community groups link this estate and HBC, including the Hub and the Hub Girl’s Night.
TheHub is an afternoon of fun for all the family! It is held on the third Sunday of most months from 3:00-5:00 pm and is open to parents, children, aunts, uncles, grandparents, carers – anyone who would like to come! TheHub meets in the Sele Farm Community Centre (Perrett Gardens, The Ridgeway), with wonderful facilities both inside and outside the centre.
The programme theme changes each month and the activities include craft tables where adults and children can sit together and create with many different materials. Table games, books to read and toys to play with are also available. For adults who wish to just come and relax there is an area to sit, chat and meet friends or make new ones. Team games are popular (and usually noisy!) and they are followed by a buffet tea with fruit juices, tea and coffee.
Over the last few years we have also organised family outings for anyone who would like to have a day out with theHub. These have included a visit to the beach and a trip to the farm. These have all been great successes and loads of fun.
TheHub is absolutely free – everything is provided and there is nothing to pay for (except for the occasional outing!).

Hub Girl’s Night
Hub Girls Night started in 2011 when some of the long-standing Hub members began to outgrow the monthly Sunday afternoon activities. Hub Girl’s Night now caters for girls in school years 6–9, many of whom have also joined WyldLife, and we generally meet on the first Friday of the month at HBC. On a typical evening we play lots of energetic, noisy games and then relax with a quieter activity such as making cards, jewellery or decorating cakes. We have special events like our pamper evening and the summer party, as well as the ‘Hub Girls Have Got Talent’ spectacular! In August we had an informal picnic at Hartham Common, and in December we go to the panto at Hertford Theatre.
