At HBC we strive to provide opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship for people of all ages and stages of life. We offer a lively and varied programme of activities for retired people of all ages and those approaching retirement, both men and women, including the younger active retired and those of more advanced years. We have a thriving Seniors’ ministry with a range of activities including weekly groups, monthly meals and occasional events. Roger and Chris O’Connor co-ordinate a fantastic group of leaders and volunteers who run HBC’s ministry amongst Seniors.
HBC’s Seniors Programme also offers a wide range of opportunities for volunteering. We also welcome new ideas of things we might do that could lead to new members joining or new volunteers offering to help.
Transport to and from these meetings can be arranged. For a printed programmes or more information, please contact the church office.

Tuesday Fellowship Activities
Alternate Tuesdays at 2:30pm
This is an informal gathering to meet friends, chat and have an enjoyable afternoon. We include a time of stimulating activity and fun, and by means of one-to-one conversation or group discussion, think about our faith and grow in our relationship with God. Again, we conclude with light refreshments.
Our monthly lunch for senior citizens. First Thursday of every month (excluding January and August) at 12:30 pm
We provide a home-cooked lunch for about 70 people in a happy and friendly atmosphere. It is a time to meet friends and enjoy each other’s company over a relaxed and nutritious meal. The 2 course lunch is freshly prepared and cooked, followed by tea & coffee and ends with a short “Thought for the Day”. Those who attend are from HBC, other churches and mostly those who have no regular church contact. Golden Lunch is an opportunity to serve the local community and reach out with the good news of the gospel. A nominal charge is made to cover the cost of the meal, currently £3 per person. Golden Lunch is only possible with the help of a team of volunteers who transport our senior citizens, prepare and cook meals, lay tables, serve tables and wash & dry up. New offers of help are always welcome.
For men. First Thursday of every month at 2:00 pm
This is a social club for men of Seniors age, mainly playing table games and with an occasional outing. It follows Golden Lunch starting around 2:00 pm, breaking for tea and cakes and finishing between 3:30 and 4:00. We aim to build up friendships and strengthen ties with our church.
For ladies and men. One day events twice yearly.
A stay at home holiday activity for men and women of retirement age and upwards, currently run in February and August. The programmes vary and include games, quizzes, demonstrations and entertainment. We always start with morning refreshments, serve a 2-course lunch and finish with afternoon tea & cakes. A sing –along and a “Thought for the Day” with a Christian message is also an integral part of the day. For an idea of the kind of event we run, please see our August Cameo 2017 Event.
Please join us for our next Cameo event: An afternoon of fellowship with a light lunch, to be held on Wednesday 14th February 2018, from 12noon until 3pm.
