There are a variety of groups available to young people at Hertford Baptist Church, both on a Sunday morning and throughout the week. We have strong partnerships with local youth workers and other churches in order that we can effectively minister to the young people in our church and community. We also run occasional courses for our youth, such as Freedom in Christ for Young People.
All of our volunteers follow our Safeguarding Children & Young People Policy and hold current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS, formerly CRB) checks.
It is run by volunteers from Hertford Baptist Church and happens each Sunday between 4.30pm – 6.00pm. For further information, contact the church office.
The Core & Core+
‘The Core’ and ‘Core+’ are our main Sunday youth activities for young people at our 10:15am service. ‘Core’ is for those in School Years 7 to 9. ‘Core+’ is for those in School Years 10 to 12.
‘Core’ meet in the youth lounge after the first part of the service (where we are in church together). There is an opportunity to discuss and think through some big issues and topics that affect us, whether that is to do with the Bible, our friends, the world, or our church. About once a month we have a ‘Core’ breakfast. As well as this, on a monthly basis we stay in the church for the whole service. ‘Core+’ currently meet in the Church Centre lounge. The format is similar to that of the ‘Core’ – but also includes the opportunity to go out to a local coffee shop to just simply ‘catch up’ with each other.
It is an action packed evening full of crazy games and fun activities. During the evening there is also a very thought-provoking and challenging talk given by one of the leaders.
During the week there is a chance to attend a small groups. Some meet once a week, some less frequently. These SAS Groups provide an opportunity for the young people to be mentored, supported and encouraged as they journey through life together with others. Led by various adult members in the church, they provide a great space for the young people outside of church, school, or home life.
