Kelly grew up locally, was a bit of a rebel (by her own admission) and gave her mum in particular a hard time. When she was 20 Kelly had a beautiful little boy but unfortunately some time later found herself in a new relationship which totally destroyed her self-confidence, robbed her of her self-esteem and by the time the relationship ended had left her in a financial mess.
By then, aged 27, and with two children aged 7 and 5 Kelly, reached out for help by calling Christians Against Poverty. The Hertford CAP Centre manager, Val, and Support Worker Penny, visited Kelly to help her take control of her debt situation. Over the next 12 months Kelly’s life began to turn around. It was on a CAP discovery break (Kelly’s first holiday with her children) that she became a Christian and returned home a different woman – everyone noticed the difference!
Kelly completed the Alpha Course at Hertford Baptist Church and so it was on the evening of 5th December that Kelly had her two children dedicated to God before being baptised herself after giving a very moving, courageous and powerful testimony to all that God had done in her life and why she had come to believe and trust in Jesus Christ. Kelly is now debt free and has enrolled on the CAP Money Management Course to help her stay that way.
(Please note: Kelly gave permission for us to share her story in the hope it may encourage other people. All CAP related information is treated with utmost confidentiality).
