The Hertford-Wildeshausen town twinning began in 1995, with the church twinning following immediately afterwards. Although separated by language there is a spirit of unity that binds us together as expressed in Galatians 3:28 ‘All one in Christ Jesus’ – ‘In Jesu sind wir eins’.
This formal twinning brings with it an opportunity to build relationships between our two church congregations; as a consequence many personal friendships have developed over the years resulting in independent family visits.
Structured exchange visits take place alternately every two years with interesting programmes arranged in each location. Although Wildeshausen Baptist Church is smaller than HBC, we learn to benefit from each other’s situation, praying into matters of concern.
In 2015 we celebrated 20 years of both town and church twinning when a group from Hertford visited Wildeshausen for this special anniversary; this was another fantastic time of sharing, worshiping and learning together (which you can read more about here).
