am The entry into Jerusalem and the clearing of the temple Mark 11:1-11 & 15-19
Paul Davies
Through his actions of riding into Jerusalem and clearing the temple Jesus claims authority over city and the temple. He claims authority over all aspects of human life including the political, social and personal life of the people. Jesus still claims this authority in today’s world. What is our response as Christians? Do we model Jesus’ authority and Lordship? Do we have the courage to proclaim Christ’s Lordship? Are we working towards the implementation of the Lordship in all aspects of life?
pm Jesus’ promise to be the bread of life for us John 6:25-59

Sunday 19 April
9.15 am Faith & Doubt Luke 24:13-35
This passage focuses on the shift from doubt to faith concerning the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. It does not point us to a ‘blind faith’ - but to the Law of Moses, the Psalms and the Prophets written centuries before. It reminds us there is a history, consistency and objectivity to the Christian faith, and that God opens eyes, hearts, minds and understanding when we seek him wholeheartedly.
pm The work of Jesus on the cross Hebrews 2:14-18
First of all, Jesus identified with humanity by sharing their flesh and blood; yes, God became a human. Secondly, Jesus abolished the power of the devil by dying on the cross. Jesus died so that he might destroy the devil who holds the power of death. Thirdly, Jesus delivered his people from the fear of the devil and death and saved them to experience and enjoy everlasting life. He is our helper in times of need. In light of what Jesus has done for us we need to live our lives in obedience to him.
Sunday 26 April
am Being a Christian Acts 11:19-26
Michael Hunter
What does it mean to be called a Christian? If someone followed you around for a week, what would they learn about you? Would they know you love Jesus? This morning we are going to think about what it looks like when you truly follow Jesus.
pm The Power of the Gospel Romans 1:1-17
Steve Fenton
The origin of the gospel is God (v.1), it is rooted in Scripture (v.2), its substance is Jesus (v.3), and its scope universal (vs.5 & 8). The apostle Paul described himself as obligated (v.14), eager (v.15), and unashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (v.16). When we grasp our indebtedness, when we are convinced of the power of the gospel to transform lives, we too will be inspired to share the gospel unashamedly and without embarrassment with those for whom Jesus died.
