9.15 & 11.00 am The Word of Peace 2 Thessalonians 3
(Steve Fenton)
Paul urged the Thessalonians to pray that the gospel message would spread in every direction and be honoured, both in the world, and in the church (2) and was confident the Lord would strengthen and protect (3). The lessons we take away are the need for prayer, the centrality of God’s Word and the importance of sharing it, receiving it, honouring it and doing what it says.
6.30 pm Reconciliation Genesis 27: 1-4 & 30-38
(Dawid Konotey-Ahulu)
As we come to the last of our five-week mini series, we look at the topic of reconciliation. Appropriately, we do so in the context of a Communion service, a wonderful opportunity to receive a measure of peace and wholeness over less than satisfactory situations and relationships.
Sunday 14 December
9.15 & 11.00 am – Christmas all-age celebrations.
6.30 pm . Good News Luke 4 : 14-21
(Steve Fenton)
Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit to proclaim good news to the poor - not just the physically poor, though many of them were, but the spiritually poor. He talked about proclaiming freedom for the captives and the recovery of sight for the blind. Again, there was a dual meaning relating to both the physical and the spiritual. The same Holy Spirit who anointed Jesus fills and anoints us, equips and compels us, to have compassion on the poor and to proclaim the good news of Jesus.
