Sunday 4 July
am               Proverbs - a summary
Paul Davies
We have had seven sermons on the book of Proverbs.  Given that God's Word is transforming, we should ask ourselves two important questions:

·
What do I need to do to move on from here?
·
What do we as a fellowship need to do?

pm                The Lord’s rest                                                                              Genesis 1:26 - 2:3  Matthew 11:25 - 30
Alastair Curry
Hebrews 4:9-11 says, ‘There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for those who enter God's rest also rest from their own work, just as God did from his.  Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest.’  Having thought a fortnight ago about work and what the Bible has to say about work, we here take a brief look at some of the Bible's teaching on rest.  What is God's rest?  How do we find it?  What are some of the common traps we can fall into that stop us from fully enjoying God's rest in our daily lives?

Sunday 11 July
am               Daring for the Gospel                                                                             1 Thessalonians 2:1-16
Alastair Curry
Paul wrote, “With the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in the face of strong opposition” (v.2).  This passage highlights four issues we need to face if we're going to dare to obey God’s mandate for world mission, whether here or overseas:
1. The context for mission.  It’s tough, not fun.  Let’s pray that we’ll be prepared to get hurt for Jesus’ sake and for the lost.
2. The confidence of mission.  It’s working with God.  Will you dare to go into the dark with Jesus?
3. The challenge of mission is honest, hard work.  Tell them gospel truth, and your work may be the key to mission somewhere.
4. And lastly, the lifestyle of mission.  Let’s give ourselves to people.  Love them.  Be there for them, for God, and for the gospel.

pm                An audience with a Mission Partner

Our friend, who has recently returned from the Middle East, will be joining us this evening to be interviewed about some of the more personal aspects of the Christian walk.  There will be opportunity to ask questions during the interview.

Sunday 18 July
am                Passionate enough to act                                                                     Exodus 2:11-22
David Lockwood
This morning we begin a new series in Exodus.  Following on from the people of God being oppressed into slave labour and then the dramatic birth of Moses, we are now at the point where the baby is a man who has been educated in the royal Egyptian court.  Fully aware of his real identity, he looks out upon the injustice of his fellow people and is compelled to act.  What would it take for us to act on what we are most passionate about?

pm                The True Vine                                                                                         John 15:1-8
Keith Wood
It is just as much God’s will for His people to be fruitful as it is for a vine to produce fruit.  Two questions therefore arise about Christian fruitfulness: What is it? (nature); How is it achieved? (secret).  The secret of Christian fruitfulness is pruning and abiding.

Sunday 25 July
am                   Who? Me, Lord                                                                                    Exodus 3:1-15
Steve Fenton
God was greatly concerned at the suffering and oppression of His people [Exodus 2:24 & 3:7].  Moses, meanwhile, was in the desert tending sheep, a long way away from providing help [Ex. 3:1].  So, God grabs Moses’ attention and commissions him for action – but he resists [Ex. 3:11-13].  This account gives us helpful insight into God’s concern for those in desperate need; God’s call and commissioning; and the objections we need to overcome if we are to move in God’s plans and purposes.

pm                   With knowledge comes behavioural change?                                James 1:19-27
Andy King
As Christians we hear so much about how we should live our lives, the things we should and shouldn’t do and the difference we can make in the lives of others.  We nod in agreement, knowing that we should change, but do we change?  Do we act upon the words we read from the Bible and from what we hear from others?

To move from hearing God’s word to actually doing is a big step, but surely one we must take.
